GnuNae does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All user data remains locally on your device.
Overview
GnuNae is an Electron-based browser application with an AI-powered Codex sidebar for intelligent web automation. This privacy policy describes how GnuNae handles user data.
Data Collection and Storage
All user data is stored locally on your device:
- Personal Data Store (PDS): User-provided information (such as addresses, preferences) is stored locally in
~/.gnunae/datastore.json. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it. - Settings and Configuration: App preferences are stored locally on your device.
- OpenAI Authentication: GnuNae uses OpenAI's authentication flow. Credentials are stored securely on your local machine. GnuNae does not store or have access to your OpenAI password.
Third-Party Services
- OpenAI API: When you use the Codex sidebar, your prompts and current page context are sent to OpenAI's servers for AI processing. OpenAI's privacy policy governs this data: openai.com/privacy
- Web Browsing: Standard web browsing data (cookies, cache, history) is handled by the embedded Chromium browser and stored locally.
No Telemetry
GnuNae does NOT collect usage analytics, crash reports, or any telemetry data. Your browsing activity and usage patterns are never transmitted to us or any third party.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties.
Children's Privacy
GnuNae is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

GnuNae is open source software licensed under MIT. You can review our source code on GitHub to verify our privacy practices.
